ARDHOLT

Engineering for the moment it has to hold.

Engineering practice · London

Ardholt conceives, builds and runs digital systems in their entirety: what people touch, what thinks behind it, and what it all runs on. One practice, one standard, the whole way down.

The practice

Not parts of a system. The system.

Most of what fails in software fails between the parts: between the interface and the service, the service and the data, the data and the machine it lives on. Ardholt holds every layer, so nothing is lost between them.

We build for the moment a system has to hold. Software that is right when it matters, not merely impressive when it is shown. Systems that carry real decisions and real consequences, engineered to be trusted with both.

01

Entire

From the first principle to live operation. What people touch, what thinks behind it, what it runs on, held by one practice to one standard.

Every layer is designed with the others in view, so the joins are engineered rather than discovered.

02

Proven

Nothing is handed over on assurance alone. Every delivery carries the evidence that it does what was agreed, in the conditions it will meet.

The criteria are fixed before the work begins and the evidence is measured against them, so the proof is a record, not a promise.

03

Accountable

A system is not finished when it ships. Ardholt runs what it builds as if it were its own, and answers for it after hand-over.

The practice that built it keeps watch over it in operation, and the person who signed it off remains the person you reach.

Capabilities

What we build.

The fields Ardholt works in. Each is a kind of system the practice has conceived, built and run in its entirety, and each one is live below.

01 Voice and telephony
  1. 01

    Voice and telephony

    Systems that speak.

Voice on live telephone lines, in real time, with the composure to be interrupted and the judgement to listen as well as talk. The phone, answered to a higher standard than the person who used to answer it.

  2. 02

    Autonomous agent systems

    Systems that work.

Agents that take a brief and return finished work: planned, built, proven and delivered without a hand on the wheel, and a person brought in only where a decision is genuinely theirs to make.

  3. 03

    Knowledge and retrieval

    Systems that remember.

An organisation's knowledge, structured, kept current and answerable, so that what it knows can be found in seconds, trusted on sight and acted on.

  4. 04

    Operator consoles and messaging

    Systems that converse.

Operations run from the channels people already use. Work is commissioned, questioned and delivered in plain language, by a system that reports the way a good colleague would.

  5. 05

    Platforms and products

    Systems people use.

Products and interfaces finished to the standard people expect from the best software they own, and engineered to outlast the tools of the year they were built in.

  6. 06

    Data and automation

    Systems that run themselves.

The work that should never have been done by hand, taken over by pipelines that are trusted precisely because they never guess and never go quiet.

  7. 07

    Infrastructure and compute

    Systems that stay up.

Private compute and GPU infrastructure across sites, built to run unattended, recover on its own and carry models that matter, without a cloud bill or a cloud dependency.

  8. 08

    Security, evaluation and assurance

    Systems that prove themselves.

Security designed in from the first line, and evaluation that attacks every release with planted faults before anyone else has the chance. Nothing ships on assurance alone.

The method

Designed with intent. Built without shortcuts. Proven before it is handed over. Run as if it were our own.

This is the whole of the method. Everything Ardholt delivers is made to be relied upon, by the people who use it and by the people whose name is on it.

The standard

How every engagement runs.

The same discipline on every system, whatever its size. It is what makes a fixed price and an agreed date possible, and it is why the work can be relied upon afterwards.

Scope, in writing, first

What will be built and how it will be judged are agreed before work begins. The acceptance criteria are the contract.

Built in isolation, proven against the criteria

Work happens in its own environment, tested against the agreed criteria as it goes, never against a demo.

Delivered with evidence

Every delivery arrives with a hand-off note on what changed and why, and the test evidence that each criterion was met.

Accountable after hand-over

Ardholt stands behind what it delivers. What is within the agreed scope is made right.
